A Step Too Small 

There is a star a moon and sun 

There is a day for everyone 

A day so bright and full of life 

A day that sings of grace 

I walk in steps too short 

When things I love  

And the things I do 

Are not the same  

I cry softly out to you

Awesome fear and timid soul 

I dare not run too fast or slow 

I must go a path I truly know 

And when I'm lost in deep white snow

The long delay in reaching life 

I meander here so aimlessly 

Were I the one who focused clear  

All things precious would be near

I cry here in the tender night 

Where wind blows images of delight 

The black night comes to tuck me in 

I dream of things that might have been 

I dream in strides so long
